Chronic Pain information session

Join us on May 3,  12:00 pm (noon) – 1:00 pm via ZOOM.

Do you or someone you know suffer from chronic pain issues related to spina bifida and/or hydrocephalus? We have invited two specialists on this subject to provide explanations and offer key points that will allow you to better manage your pain and thus improve your quality of life. You will also get information on potential pain issues for people impacted by spina bifida and/or hydrocephalus. Come and join us!Dr. Anne Marie Pinard, an anesthésiologist and head of the pain clinic at the Chu de Québec, along with Dr. Emilie Croteau, a pediatric physiatrist and assistant chief of the Department of Physiatry at the CHU de Québec Université Laval and the CIUSSS de la Capitale Nationale will be presenting. What participants might learn

  • Define what chronic pain is and the different types
  • Identify potential pain issues in spina bifida and/or hydrocephalus
  • Explain the role of the brain plasticity in the persistence of pain
  • Discuss different approaches to managing chronic pain, including self-management
  • Explore some useful resources for managing chronic pain

 

Who should attend:  Anyone interested in learning more about chronic pain and potential pain issues for people living with spina bifida and/or hydrocephalus. Health and allied professionals welcome.

The presentation will be in French with simultaneous interpretation into English. The question period will be bilingual.

This webinar is jointly organized by Hydrocephalus Canada and Spina-bifida hydrocéphalie Québec. This collaboration aims to overcome the language barrier with regard to access to information. We want to bring together our two communities (Francophone and Anglophone) so that they can benefit from the expertise of specialists in the field of the health of people with spina bifida and hydrocephalus.
