Talk & Connect

There are many ways to connect with and talk to other people just like you!

You can contact SB&H by phone or email for confidential advice or help with things like school, work, or questions about spina bifida and hydrocephalus. Here are just a few things you can do to help yourself:

Ask Us To Set Up An SB&H Youth Link

SB&H can link you with others who are going through just what you are. Talking to someone with similar experiences could be the missing link. It helps you know that others like you are out there and have learned to cope. A link can be an a great new friend or simply someone to listen.

It's easy to get linked! Call 416-214-1056 or 800-387-1575 or email provincial@sbhao.on.ca

Connect with people through Ability Online

AbilityOnline is a meeting place for youth with disabilities and their friends and siblings to connect on the web with others all over the world, share their hopes and fears, and discuss real issues in a safe and secure real-time chat environment.

By joining AbilityOnline, members have 24/7 access to friendship, support, sharing of information and skill development opportunities in a monitored and bully-free environment. Whether the issues are health related, educational, employment/career, or recreational there are people online waiting to talk to you.

They can answer questions, or at least point members in the right direction. To make it easier to find the right connections, their website has been divided into four separate sections: “Kids and Teens”; “Young Adults and Alumni”; Parents” and “Professionals”.

Anyone interested in joining the SB&H youth chat needs to become a member of AbilityOnline in just a few simple steps:

  1. Go to www.AbilityOnline.org to enter the AbilityOnline website
  2. Click on the Register Button.
  3. Enter your personal information as requested, including your real name, address and date of birth. (This info is kept totally private.)
  4. Click on the SUBMIT button once you have filled in all the areas.
  5. Once you have submitted your registration, Ability Online will give you a quick phone call and then send you an ACCESS CODE through Canada Post.

Once you receive this access code follow the steps in the letter and you will have full access to the program. You only need to enter the access code once. Every other time you log on to Ability Online you enter your name and password you created. If you need help, email information@abilityonline.org.
