Hydrocephalus Canada offers a caring community for people affected by hydrocephalus and/or spina bifida through support, education and awareness, advocacy and research. Our programs and services are free of charge. No matter where you live, we are here to help by providing:

CARE & SUPPORT - Make connections and lean on others

  • A linking service connecting you to others affected by sb/h in your community or beyond 
  • Support and social groups
  • Transition services empowering young people with sb/h  through the Getting You There program
  • Online Forum and social media community via Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn
  • Personal stories of those affected by sb/h and an opportunity to share yours
  • Scholarship and bursary programs for post secondary students hydrocephalus and/or spina bifida


EDUCATION & AWARENESS - Learn, stay informed and be proactive

  • Educational and information resources published by us and the best from around the world, including brochures, complimentary packages, kits, books, CDs DVDs
  • Current magazine and Staying Connected, our online e-newsletter
  • Resource Centre and lending library housing the most up to date material on sb/h and disability related topics
  • Our Website (www.hydrocephalus.ca) with extensive, to the minute information about hydrocephalus and spina bifida
  • Public education programs and healthcare community awareness about the impact of living with hydrocephalus and related neurological conditions, NTD prevention through folic acid use, and diagnosis and treatment of Normal Pressure Hydrocephalus (NPH)
  • Sponsorship for puppet troupe programs that teach school-age children about sb/h and acceptance


ADVOCACY - Create a welcoming society

  • The collective voice for fostering understanding and systemic, positive change through partnerships and coalitions
  • An ambassador program appointing and supporting representatives speaking out on behalf of the sb/h community


RESEARCH ENDORSEMENT - Build hope for the future

  • Funding research leading to the improvement of quality of life for people with sb/h and their families
  • Research promotion assisting and encouraging scientists and the medical community to advance studies of sb&h.
