CIBC Analyst – Summer 2018
The Quantitative Solutions (QS) group is responsible for providing quantitative support for model and market data usage across Capital Markets Risk Management, including market risk VaR models used for economic and regulatory capital, and credit PFE models used for counterparty credit management. The group is responsible for methodology, development, calibration of models, market data quality and usage and explaining and troubleshooting model performance. The group is also responsible for tracking and coordinating changes to models across CMRM.

The Model Performance team is a part of the Quantitative Solutions team, and is responsible for understanding, assessing and explaining the performance of the models used for risk measurement and capital calculation in CMRM in particular the relationship between the inputs (market data, parameters) and the outputs (risk valuation, risk measures, capital numbers) of such models. The group is also responsible for defining, running and monitoring controls to mitigate model risk within CMRM in alignment with regulatory and internal policies.

The group communicates actively and regularly with other members of the CMRM team like model owners (Quantitative Solutions Methodology), model developers (Quantitative Solutions Development, model users (Market Risk), model reviewers (Model Validation) and front line stakeholders (Front Office).

Job Description
Market data quality, integrity and analysis – You’ll ensure that market data time series and risk factor models effectively capture market conditions, satisfying both regulatory, and market and credit risk model requirements, by maintaining data quality processes and becoming intimately familiar with the data inputs to risk models for one or more asset classes. Where gaps in data quality exist, you’ll perform data cleansing, data filling, benchmarking against independent data sources, and you’ll suggest improvements to methodology as appropriate. You’ll support the analysis of both current and historical market data trends and correlations, by manipulating, summarizing and visualizing complex data sets.

Job Description
The Summer Associate/Analyst will be tasked with multiple projects ranging in duration. The Associate will also assist Risk Managers with day-to-day tasks in the analysis and reporting of trading and non-trading market risks.
